The Great Australian Sandwichship is Australia’s first foodservice competition of its kind.
Hosted by the Australasian Sandwich Association, The Great Australian Sandwichship is a celebration of the heroes of our lunch-hour, those professionals who strive day-after-day to provide us with the finest gourmet sandwich experiences money can buy.
The Great Australian Sandwichship provides a unique platform for food professionals to compete against each other and showcase their industry expertise and creative flair.
The Great Australian Sandwichship competitors battle it out across four distinct categories:
“Australia’s Best Toasted Sandwich”
“Australia’s Best Wrap”
“Australia’s Best Creative Sandwich”
“Australia’s Best Roll”
Overall, the “Australian Sandwichship Champion” is the competitor who produces one item from three of the four categories and ultimately achieves the highest total point score.
This year the competition has been split into two heats; the Southern final which was held in Melbourne on the 20th June at the Food Service Exhibition, and the Northern final which will be held in Sydney on the 7th September as part of Fine Foods Australia.
The overall winner will receive a trip for two to New York City for a week long Sandwich Safari!
But the fun doesn’t stop there! The Australian Sandwichship Champion will go on to compete in the World Sandwichship on October 7th as part of Crave International Food Festival. Held at iconic location Opera Kitchen, the World Sandwichship will see the newly crowned Australian Sandwichship Champion go head- to- head with competitors from Boston USA, London and South Africa.
